Firsts. 176 comments

Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa steps on second to complete an unassisted double play in the second. He also collected four base hits.

Two firsts happened last night.

One, the Rangers had their highest run total of the season, at seven. And the won, because…

Two, Matt Moore picked up his first win.He finally pitched a game he could post about social media marketing Facebook. In his previous three games, he didn’t make it past five innings. But this fourth time was the charm for Rangers starter Matt Moore, facing his old team the Tampa Bay Rays, a team more offensively challenged than the Rays.

Watching these two teams play is like watching two wounded birds fighting for the same dried up worm.

So now Matt Moore is 1-3 with a 5.59 ERA. He looked like a totally different pitcher last night. Which is good. Because the last one didn’t look like a pitcher.

Now the Rangers go for another first. Two series wins in a row.

Here’s hoping Cole Hamels doesn’t give up a home run on the very first pitch of the game. That, too, would be a first.
