Spring training has officially started with the arrival of the full squad on Tuesday in Surprise, Arizona, and the first full squad workout today.
Jeff Banister’s message to the team was not to forget how 2015 ended. Not to forget the bitter way they coughed up Game 5, or the sting of being up two games to none and then watching it slip away.
In his words, “It’s okay to still be pissed off.” He wants them to use that failure as motivation for this season.
In that regard, the biggest story line has to be how, if at all, Elvis Andrus’s total meltdown in every aspect of Game 5—defense, hitting, baserunning—will affect him in 2016.
Can he forget? Should he forget?
How long will it take for fans to forget?
