Forgettable. 44 comments

In one of the few highlights of the game, Adrian Beltre hits his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot.

It was a record-setting night. And a record-ending night. Starting with the temperature at game time, all all-time high of 111 degrees.

And that was the most enjoyable thing about last night.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx broke the Rangers team record for most runs allowed in relief, with eleven. The quintessential forgotten man did yeoman’s work, taking one for the team after the bullpen was depleted in the eleven-inning loss the night before. He saw his ERA shoot from 3.50 to 5.92. Which still makes him one of the better pitchers on the Rangers staff.

Shin-Soo Choo saw his consecutive games on-base streak end at 52. It had to eventually come to an end, so why not on this most miserable of games? During that time, he batted .337 with a remarkable .468 on-base percentage, with thirteen home runs.

Its was a forgettable game all around. The Rangers gave up twenty-one hits and sixteen runs, both season highs.

It was National Junk Food Day and the entire game felt like being forced to eat a big steaming pile of Hot Pockets.
