Jobs won. 279 comments

I used to think spring training results were unimportant, that they matter as much as asking a kindergartner what he wants to be when he grows up has any bearing on what he actually becomes (the job of cowboy loses its luster somewhere along the way).

But after yesterday’s game, I realize I was wrong.

It appears eight starting positions in the Rangers lineup have been sewn up.

Ike Davis has won the job at first.

Rougned Odor is the second baseman.

At short is Hanser Alberto.

The outfield is Justin Ruggiano, James Jones, and Nomar Mazara, left, center, and right, respectively.

Delino DeShields will DH

Bobby Wilson is the new Rangers catcher.

That leaves only third base still up for grabs. Doug Bernier seems to have the upper hand right now, it’s his to lose.

And who knew Phil Klein was a closer?

Congratulations to those above who won coveted starting positions. Sympathies go out to Choo, Moreland, Fielder, Andrus, Beltre, Desmond, and Chirinos. Come back to camp next year and try again.
