For seven innings, Colby Lewis was perfect. His two-hit, complete-game shutout over the Athletics couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, in light of the two shut-outs of their own the Rangers just endured.
It’s hard to say whether that was Colby at his best, he has been really good before. One thing is for sure, though, he seems to come up big when the team really needs him.
He was perfectly dominant last night, earning his career-high fifteenth win in the process, and keepingĀ a Rangers streakĀ from becoming a skid which could turn into a slide which could turn into a crash.
Shin-Soo Choo continued his assault on second-half pitching. Mitch Moreland continued his storybook season. And Chris Gimenez continued his unlikely impersonation of Buster Posey.
Combine the Rangers 4-0 win with the Astros 3-2 loss, and the Ranger get back the game they dropped in the standings on Wednesday. Now they have just a-game-and-a-half more to go.
It’s setting up for a perfect ending.
