Semien, Seager again.

The face, and backs, of the Rangers for the next five seasons.

In news that is not surprising:

Marcus Semien won the American League Silver Slugger award for second basemen. He led the A.L. in hits, with 185, and runs, 122. He drive in 100, and had 73 extra-base hits. Oh, by they way, he is a finalist for MVP.

Corey Seager won the award at short. He, too, is a finalist for MVP, along with Semien and Shohei Ohtani. Seager slugged 33 homers, drive on 96 (which is pretty amazing considering the guy in front of him in the lineup, and in this article, drove in 100.) Seager also had 42 doubles, the most in the A.L.. He accumulated all those stats while missing six weeks. And he finished second in the league in batting, .327.

The better news is, the Rangers have these two locked up for the next five seasons. A team always wants to be strong up the middle and you can’t get any stronger than this.

Semien and Seager. In their second year together, they led the Rangers to their first World Series title. They bat one-two in the lineup. It’s the best double-play combination in baseball and, when it’s all said and done, will probably be one of the best in history.
