One of the challenges with spring training is looking at numbers, good and bad, and telling yourself, “It’s only spring training.”
That said, you look at some of the offensive numbers this team is putting up this spring and you can only hope this carries through into the season.
Corey Seager hitting .467, Robbie Grossman .407, Adolis Garcia .357, Jonah Heim .316, Marcus Semien .294, Nathanial Lowe .286, Josh Jung .281.
Those are silly numbers, of course. Video game numbers. Spring training numbers. But so much of hitting is confidence. And if the Rangers can carry this confidence into the season and hit the ground running at the plate, this team has a real chance of competing at the top of the division.
Yes, that’s a big if. And, you keep telling yourself, “It’s only spring training.”
Yet, that’s all Rangers fans have to go on. We haven’t seen hope and optimism since 2016. Pardon us if we are a bit unfamiliar with it.
