1. There is talk about the Rangers and Beltre working out an extension. Beltre wants to stay in Texas, but not if the team is in rebuilding mode. He wants to win. Beltre’s agent is Scott Boras.
2. Michael Kirkman, a left-hander, is experiencing pain in his left shouder and will be shut down for a week, which isn’t good for him, seeing as how he is a non-roster invitee and fighting hard for one of the few open reliever slots. But, he is one of only three left-handed relievers in camp vying for a role in the bullpen (along with Alex Claudio and Martire Garcia), so that helps his cause somewhat. The Rangers are actively searching for left-handed relief help. Free agent Phil Coke is still available.
