Due to some unforeseen mechanical failures, and a really bad GPS, the semis from Surprise, Arizona, finally arrived with the Rangers bats, nearly four weeks late.
It was about time
Many of the Rangers starters doubled their hit totals for the year in just one game.
Shin-Soo Choo nearly hit for the cycle, and he didn’t get his first of three hits until the sixth inning. All he lacked was a double.
Delino DeShields reclaimed the leadoff role by going 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Rougned Odor hadn’t had a hit in what seemed like two weeks. He got two.
In fact, every single Ranger got a hit with the exception of Mike Napoli.
When it was all said and done, the Rangers were able to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Twins.
In some ways this might have been the most important game of the young season. It stopped the bleeding. And it opened the floodgates.
Let’s just hope they remain open.
