How do you know spring training has nothing to do with the regular season and you shouldn’t draw any conclusions on what happens?
Khris Davis is leading the Rangers in steals. He hasn’t stolen a base since 2017. But he stole third yesterday. Because he noticed the pitcher wasn’t paying attention to him.
While we won’t be seeing much of that, if at all, during the regular year, what you can hope to see is that kind of aggressiveness starting to take hold with the young players on the roster. Seeing this veteran figuring out ways to watch the game in front of him and outsmart the opponent to get an advantage can only help.
Guys like Khris Davis might have their best years behind them but they can still contribute in other ways.
