Here is a particularly sarcastic post I made after a particularly bad patch of games the Rangers went through in July when they lost so many games so often and so early that they really didn’t need a closer. Or a third base coach for that matter.
One week until pitchers and catchers.
Enjoy.

The Rangers have used a lot of players this season. Fifty-two in fact, by my count. (Fifty one, if you don’t count Moreland as a player.) Their roster has gone through more men than a Kardashian Saturday night.
Last night they used a player from their twenty-five-man roster I had never heard of.
His name is Joakim Soria. He is what is called a “closer.” His job is to come in and “close out” a game that the team has a chance to win.
A closer. How quaint.
