It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Three weeks into the season and the Rangers have yet to gel. After winning four in a row, they lose the next three in a row.

In six games this week, the Rangers recorded one sweep against the under-.500 Astros. Immediately followed by getting swept by the over-.500 White Sox, putting Texas at 10-9 overall.

The culprit in being swept in Chicago was both a sluggish offense and a bullpen in which “bull” was an apt descriptor.

The old adage that good pitching beats good hitting held true as the number one team in the American League in ERA (Chicago) held what had been one of the better hitting teams in the American League (Texas) to just four measly runs in three games, punctuated by the infamous triple play that seemed to puncture the Rangers offense for the entire series.

It was a wasted Chicago weekend. Now, they come home for three against the Yankees, an off day Thursday, then three against the Angels. They need to win four of the six against those struggling teams.

Hopefully attached to everyone’s headphones on the plane trip home was a tutorial on base running.

Here are the week’s stats of everyone who started three or more games. (Warning, might not be for the faint of heart.):
