36. 18 comments

According to The Dallas Morning News’s Evan Grant, the Rangers have the most pitchers in training camp they’ve ever had: 36. It reminds me of that Bruce Springsteen song, “57 Channels (And Nothing On).” A whole lot to see. But nothing to watch.

Colon. 29 comments

Jon Daniels has made a lot of jobs difficult this spring. Like the guy in charge of equipment. He has to find a place to order the XXXXXXXXXXXL jersey for Bartolo Colon. Like the caterer for the Surprise complex. How are you supposed to be expected to have on […]

Irony. 24 comments

Notes from camp so far: Irony abounds. Matt Bush is entering 2018 convinced he is going to be a starter. If this happens, it will be because Martin Perez can’t go to begin the season, and Bush will end his 2018 by the end of April with a severe arm […]

Pitchers and catchers. 46 comments

Aches and pains. Slings and arrows. Joys and heartbreaks. Winners and losers. Pulls and sprains. Hopes and dreams. Prayers and wishes. Veterans and rookies. Cinderellas and sayonaras. Sunrises and sunsets. Prospects and suspects. Balls and strikes. Fears and certainties. Expectations and disappointments. Pitchers and catchers report today. Baseball is back […]

Yu a Cub. 33 comments

Yu Darvish, ex-starter for the Rangers who, for some reason, was either widely loved or widely hated, is now a Chicago Cub. He gets $21 million per year, plus incentives. In five major seasons, almost all with Texas, he has a 3.42 ERA and a .571 winning percentage. During the […]

First projected 25. 27 comments

Until opening day actually happens, there will be seemingly daily articles trying to predict the Rangers opening day twenty-five-man roster. Here is the first of year, from T. R. Sullivan of mlb.com. Of course, his guess here is as good as anyone else’s. It really comes down to if Bartolo […]
