As the trade deadline neared and the Rangers pitching woes added up, the trade rumors for Chris Sale raged on. Oh, and the Rangers won their sixtieth game of the year, 8-3, over Kansas City at home, on the strength of three home runs, two from Odor, one from Profar, and another strong start from A. J. Griffin, who ran his record to 4-1. In the end, the rumors of a deal with the White Sox, Rays or Phillies never happened, while deals with the Brewers and Yankees did. But, headscratchingly, not for pitching.
