Jim Bowden, the former general manager of the Reds and Expos/Nationals and current analyst for MLB Network Radio and The Athletic, wrote an article grading each team this offseason so far.
The Rangers got a B.
From The Athletic, here is his rationale:
“Rangers president Jon Daniels has been making moves, landing a trio of starting pitchers in Corey Kluber, Kyle Gibson and Jordan Lyles. All three pitchers are reasonably priced and should allow the Rangers to at least stay competitive as they open their new stadium in 2020. Their best move just might be the signing of free-agent left-handed reliever Joely Rodríguez. He pitched the last two years for the Chunichi Dragons in Japan and scouts are raving about how much he’s developed.”
Interesting that after stealing Kluber from the Indians, he says his the biggest move is Joely Rodriguez.
Let the season get here already and see for ourselves.
