Cy-rial killer. Bartolo Colon has outptiched three former Cy Young winners this season.

Felix Hernandez. Justin Verlander. Rick Porcello. Zack Greinke.

Bartolo Colon may be at the tail end of his career (come to think of it, with the state of Rangers pitching, he might have a few more years in him because a 55-year-old Colon will probably out pitch anyone in the Rangers system), but T. R. Sullivan unearthed a cool nugget.

Colon has faced off against four Cy Young Award-winning pitchers this season, and he has beaten three of them, including Zack Greinke last night. The only one of the four he lost to was Rick Porcello.

Colon hasn’t been pretty at times. In fact, at times his pitching has been as attractive as his physique. But he is like the cockroach of pitching. He survives.

After finally getting a W last game to surpass Dennis Martinez on the all-time wins list for Latin-born players in his last start, Colon’s next milestone is Juan Marichal’s innings pitched.

He’s about 70 innings away.

He won’t get that this year. But don’t count him out getting it next year.

And after last night he has 247 wins. Just 53 more to 300. He should get that in six more years.
