It comes down to math.

Q: If the Rangers starting pitcher allows 16.4 runs per nine innings, and the Rangers are scoring .5 runs per nine innings, how many innings will it take to score enough runs to overcome their starting pitcher?

The numbers just didn’t add up to a Rangers victory. Jack Leiter is not ready to be a major league starting pitcher. The Rangers don’t have enough depth to cover all their injuries. But with thirteen players on the I.L. and one (Evan Carter) dancing around it, no team could possibly have enough depth

It’s just math. And watching the Rangers play baseball lately is about as exciting as watching the National Mathletes High School Math Tournament.

Actually, that would be more fun.
