On their best behavior, not a single Rangers hit anyone or anything last night, going down meekly 2-1 to the Athletics.

Last night the Rangers didn’t seem to have the punch they had in the previous game.

Fans were hoping for a slugfest, but instead got a game where the Rangers just couldn’t get the critical hit, let alone a crushing blow.

While the game featured very little pop, it was just one loss so it’s really not like anyone took one on the chin.

Texas wasn’t able to rule the Athletics with the iron fist they demonstrated in the series against the Blue Jays.

Not to pull any punches, but the lack of hitting with runners in scoring position really cold cocked the Rangers last night.

Too many Rangers hitters were taking uppercut swings and, in the end, couldn’t connect with a one-two punch needed. And just like that, the two-game winning streak is knocked for a loop.

A day after the punch, we get the punchless.

All they can do is take another swing at it today.

From Nash, a great article from Toronto Sun writer Don Brennan on the Rougned Odor, Jose Bausista fight.
