Rangers rolling.

Jordan Lyles tosses seven innings of relief in the Rangers 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Three wins in a row.

On the road.

With quality pitching.

They split a series in Los Angeles. They have the chance to sweep a short two-gamer in Arizona.

Just 38 games under .500.

Jordan Lyles picked up a W.

It’s all clicking for the Rangers. In the better late than never category, this Texas Rangers late-season road trip has been encouraging. Spencer Howard faced six batters to start the game. He retired all six. Then Jordan Lyles, doing his best imitation of any pitcher other than Jordan Lyles, came in and threw seven stifling innings of relief.

After the game, Rangers manager Chris Woodward said the game was “gritty.”

Of course, an apt description for the season as a whole is a word that rhymes with that word.

But, we will take gritty. Winning baseball is nice to see.
