Yesterday, MLB.com’s Richard Justice wrote a column entitled, “The winners of the offseason (so far)…”
Guess who made the list?
One hint: the name of this site isn’t MarinersRounding3rd or PadresRounding3rd.
Give up?
It’s the Rangers.
Here is what Justice had to say: “In an 18-day stretch, Texas’s rotation was transformed from a problem area into one of the best in franchise history. General manager Jon Daniels worked the edges of free agency in signing Kyle Gibson and Jordan Lyles then in Sunday acquired two-time Cy Young Award-winner Corey Kluber from the Indians. He’ll join Mike Minor and Lance Lynn to give the Rangers a dramatically different look. Daniels still needs a third baseman and center fielder, but his offseason is off to a great start.”
It’s always nice when a small-market team like the Rangers gets attention.
Go, Texas.

SHAMELESS PLUG:
Hot off the presses, my new book, NEVER WEAR A HAT TO A BEHEADING, is now available at Amazon. It’s a collection of irreverent and sometimes a bit politically incorrect cartoons written and illustrated by me. It’s been described as, “like ‘Cards Against Humanity’ in book form” and “like The Farther Side.” It makes the perfect stocking stuffer.
