Spring fever.

The first Spring Breakout Game is over and the buzz is still resonating across Texas. Like the Silver Boot Series, it’s captured the hearts and minds of every man, woman, and child in the Lone Star state.

You couldn’t go anywhere yesterday without people talking about the Spring Breakout Game. At lunch, it was all Spring Breakout this, Spring Breakout that. In waiting rooms, bars, conference rooms, and urinals, Texans were on pins and needles awaiting the results of the first ever Spring Breakout.

On his eighteenth birthday, Rangers super prospect Sebastian Walcott lead off the bottom of the first inning with a single and scored the first run minutes later. Cheers of U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A echoed across the land.

The Rangers eventually lost the seven-inning game 4-1, but to the hundreds of millions of Spring Breakout Game viewers, it wasn’t about the score, or the million-dollar commercials, it was about watching stars of tomorrow.

And, really, isn’t tomorrow why we love spring training? Just thirteen more tomorrows until opening day. Please hurry.
