Baseball activity.

Max Scherzer had officially been cleared for baseball activity. As of today, he is allowed to scratch himself, spit sunflower seeds, scratch himself again, and complain about how the luxury tax is working as a salary cap to depress salaries.

He can start throwing a baseball in a few months.

Of the three pitchers in which the Rangers are putting all their faith in the hope for mid-summer help, Scherzer seems to be the one on the fastest track. Mahle and deGrom are far behind.

The Rangers will be lucky if one of the three contributes in a meaningful way this year. It two of the three do, they need to thank the baseball gods. And if all three come back and contribute in a positive way, build a shrine to baseball gods.

Even the local Dallas sportswriters are sounding a near daily drumbeat that this starting five the Rangers have right now will not be enough, and the talent falls off a cliff dramatically after them, and the Rangers need more starters.

But, Scherzer has resumed baseball activity. Let the scratching begin.
