The Rangers get the force play in the ninth to close out the inning, sweeping the Astros and moving to within only five games of first place.

Back in the glory two years of this franchise, the Texas Rangers had a theme song, Merle Haggard’s “That’s The Way Baseball Go.”

They played it every game to a rousing ovation. But just as quickly as the Rangers dominance vanished, so did the song.

The Rangers haven’t had a proper theme song since.

Until now.

Introducing the new Texas Rangers official unofficial non-licensed grammatically-challenged theme song:

It Don’t Come Easy” by Ringo Starr.

There is not a truer description of what the Texas Rangers have put their fans through these last few games.

You got to play your dues if you wanna sing the blues/
And you know it don’t come easy

They are winning. It’s just not easy.

The Rangers just finished a hellish 13-games-in-13-day-stretch against the elite teams in baseball. They are a totally different team at the end of this stretch than they were when it started it.

After their 4-3 win last night to sweep the first place Houston Astros, the Rangers went an incredible remarkable 9-4 in that stretch, winning two of three against Of Anaheim, splitting with the Yankees two games apiece, beating the Giants two out of three and sweeping the Astros in three straight.

The schedule wasn’t easy.

And the Rangers didn’t make the winning easy either.

I don’t ask for much, I only want your trust/
And you know it don’t come easy

Inning after inning they allowed the tying and winning runs on base, and inning after inning they wiggled off the hook, as the Astros went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position (nice to see someone else do that for a change).

Last night, with a 4-1 lead in the sixth, the Rangers tried to give the game away. They issued a single and four walks to allow two runs to score and shave the lead to a razor-thin one run. They got out of that bases-loaded jam in heart stopping fashion.

They walked the leadoff man in the eight, only to get out of it.

Then, in the ninth, they put two on with one out, only to get out of it and preserve their 4-3 win. Somehow.

Open up your heart, let’s come together…

Which is pretty much what they did the night before when they also won 4-3. Also in the sixth inning, they gave up a run, loaded the bases with a slew of one-out walks, then got out of it without the tying run scoring.

Then, exactly like last night, in the ninth, Shawn Tolleson let the first two runners get on, and with second and third and nobody out, he miraculously got out of the inning with the win intact.

And, of course, who could forget Sunday’s Martin Perez gem where he left the game with 2-0 lead and the bullpen barely survived that one, too?

That seems to be the Rangers new MO.

It really does not come easy.

And this love of mine keeps growing all the time/
And you know it don’t come easy

They have a new theme song. And, if they keep this up, the Rangers will have a new sponsor: The Arlington Heart Replacement Clinic.

Because this stuff is hard to live through.

Forget about your past and all your sorrows
It don’t come easy

When I got home last night, I noticed two or three comments that were awaiting moderation. I looked at them and can find no reason at all why that happened. There must be a weird glitch in Disqus right now. So, if that happens to you, don’t worry. I will try to find those and allow them to be posted when I see them. Sorry for this.
