Here’s good article written by Jeff Wilson in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about Shin-Soo Choo and the Rangers talks of trying to move his contract.
Choo has been one of the Rangers most consistent hitters.
As Wilson points out, despite the pleads of poverty and the claims they don’t have the payroll flexibility, Rangers ownership has the money. They don’t need to trade Choo in order to afford, say, a top-of-the-rotation pitcher.
It’s truth is, it’s not Choo’s contract that’s a burden, its’ that he Rangers made some bad trades, gave away too much to get Lucroy and Beltran, haven’t done a good job of developing the pitching they keep, and haven’t had luck go their way.
