Rangers’ manager Jon Daniels is overjoyed at the prospect of Andrew Cashner in his rotation for 2017.

The Rangers made it official. They have signed pitcher Andrew Cashner to a one-year ten-million-dollar contract.

MLB.com’s T. R. Sullivan reported it yesterday. Here is his article.

One thing I got from reading this was how little joy there is in Jon Daniels’s face at the press conference announcing it. It was as if he just discovered someone graffitied his house.

The signing was accompanied with the news they are still looking at Edinson Volquez, one starter whose ERA was actually worse than Cashner’s in 2016.

Smart.

That’s one way to get the Cashner deal to look better than it is.

Has Mark Clark officially retired?
