It was one of the largest crowds in the Ballpark this year. They went home empty handed.

Their hero came up one hit shy of 3000.

And their team came up four runs shy of respectability.

The offense was shut out by a pitcher who came into the game with an ERA of nearly 6.00. In fact, this is the second time in five games the Rangers have been shut out by a pitcher with an obscene ERA.

So, now, Beltre comes back to and tries again today.

Today becomes the ultimate test of wills. Do people come to see history, or stay home to avoid head stroke?

I predict another great crowd. Because once Beltre gets to 3000, what is left to see? Rougned Odor’s quest to bat above .200 this year? It doesn’t have the same ring.
